Change Nameservers

This process in essence tells the Domain register where to point, in order to see your website files.

Your Name Servers must be changed to ensure that you are serving the site to your new hosting account.

We will remove sites from our servers after a 14 day grace period.

The first step in this process is to log into your GoDaddy Account.

Next you will want to hover over Domains then My Domains

The following screen will come and you will want to click your new website domain

Upon arriving at the next screen you will want to click the Nameservers Icon

Now we can finally change the Name Servers. In your welcome e-mail from Host Gator there were 2 sets of name servers given, something like NS123.HOSTGATOR.COM and NS124.HOSTGATOR.COM You will need to click in each box and change the ones that are currently there to your new ones. Once complete click on the OK button in the bottom right hand corner.

Congratulations we have completed this task. Once your name servers propagate (could take up to 24 hours) you will be serving your new website on your servers. A very quick way to check and see if your name servers have propagated is the Who Is Website ,simply enter your new website domain and it will show where your name servers are currently set. Now you can rest assured that any changes that are made will be made on your servers.
